FAQ: How long does the process take?

The actual surgical procedures to procure (harvest or surgically remove) donated organs, eyes, bones, skin, veins and tendons take only a matter of hours.

The few hours that donation requries aren't even noticed by the family.   Procurement agencies and funeral directors work around the clock to ensure that donation does not affect "regular" schedules; viewings and funerals can take place within the normal few days after the donor passes away.
